Fish spa

At Arrild Swimming Pool, we offer foot care in the form of a fish spa. For a fish spa, special fish called Garra rufa—also known as doctor fish—are used.

These are special fish from Turkey with healing properties. The fish are used to exfoliate your feet and remove dead skin cells. They attach themselves to your feet and clean them. That’s why a fish spa is effective for people who struggle with very dry/hard skin, psoriasis and eczema.

The water is 30°C. The fish have no teeth, so they use their small suction mouths to attach to the skin on your feet, and in that way they suck the dead skin cells off your feet. You can enjoy a really pleasant treatment that will leave your skin wonderfully soft.

Please note the following:

• A fish spa must not be used if you have:
• Plantar warts
• Fungus
• Wounds
• A contagious disease or a condition with a weakened immune system
• If you have applied cream, oil, self-tanner or anything else to your feet and lower legs within the past 24 hours
• Nail polish within the past 48 hours.

It’s a good idea to wear loose trousers or leggings, as they need to be rolled up below the knees when washing your feet before you put them into the spa with the fish.
